Autosomal recessive 

Milder than type 1

Serum bilirubin level < 20 mg/dL

No kernicterus 

IV phenobarbital decreases serum bilirubin.

Treatment:

Mild cases no treatment required

Phenobarbital or clofibrate can be used to reduce bilirubin levels
