Must meet all 5
1) Attached tick is an adult or nymphal Ixodes scapularis
2) Tick attached for >or = to 36 hrs or engorged
3) Prophylaxis within 72 hrs of tick removal
4)No contraindications to doxycycline
5) Endemic area ( local borellia burgdorferi infection rate > 20%)
Single dose of doxycycline within 72 hrs of tick bite
