STEPWISE MANAGEMENT OF ASCITES
1)Initial step in the management of ascites is to restrict salt and water( 2L/day)2)Spironolactone
3)After max dose of spironolactone start loop diuretics( furosemide). Diuresis not more than 1L/day( increases risk of hepatorenal syndrome)
4) Slow tapping of ascitic fluid( 2-4L/day, monitor renal function)
